Verses About Faith (for kids!)

Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

Mark 5:36

I love Bible verses that are simple. This first Bible verses about faith is super simple– just believe.

Plus, it shows that we don’t have to be afraid, because we do believe. Win-win!

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

Now that we’ve established that all you need to do is believe, this verse is a bit more practical– it shows us a way that we can believe, and we can demonstrate our faith.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

1 Corinthians 5:7

Walking by faith is HARD, but it is necesary.

If your kids need a little lesson in this area, have them put a blindfold on. Then have the other students guide them around the room with their voices. This will force them to learn to live by faith.

Afterwards, remind them that God is much more reliable than your friends in Sunday School….

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Kids want to please us. Even more than they want to please us, they want to please God. This verse shows us how to do that!

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.

Matthew 21:22

When it comes to verses about faith, this is one of the best ways to show kids what God expects of us.

I would add that we should ask for things in prayer that align with God’s will, because just because we want it, doesn’t mean that it will happen. I spent a lot of days praying that my room would be pink when I woke up. Guess what? Never happened.

On the flip side, when I was a kid, I prayed that I would stop having nightmares, and that did happen.

For nothing will be impossible with God.

Luke 1:37

This is one of those verses people love to bring up, but it is still so good! It reminds us that God is in charge of everything. We can do anything with God.

I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.

Psalm 119:30

This verse about faith is so good, because it’s very simplistic.

It shows us that being faithful means fulfilling God’s commandments. It means that we keep the laws that are spelled out in the Bible– that we don’t lie or cheat or steal. We pray. We help people. We are kind. That is how you are faithful.

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.

1 Corinthians 16:13

This verse is a good reminder to students that just because they believe in God, it doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy to be faithful. There are a lot of distractions, temptations, and people that can lead us astray.

Instead, you have to be strong. Sometimes that means being courageous and standing up for what we believe in.

And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.

Mark 11:22-23

Do I even need to say anything about this?

“Now faith is being sure of what you hope for, and certain of what you do not see.”

Hebrews 11:1

Do you have a favorite Bible verse?

This is mine.

This whole passage is so rich, so amazing, and so deep, but this verse sums it up perfectly.

We don’t see God. We have hope that He has a plan. We have hope that things are going to go well. We have hope for the future.

Because we have faith, we don’t just think that– we know. We are sure.

Love. It.
