“Their sin and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.”
Hebrews 10:17-18

Although people talk about “forgive and forget”, I did not realize the concept was in the Bible. Not just for us– humans– but for God. It says the Holy Spirit says that he will remember no more. Which is crazy, because I am sure that God does not forget anything. Because… He’s God.
That means that even though God remembers– because He’s God– he must actively choose to “remember no more”.
Yet so many people walk around unable to forget their own shortcomings. If God, who knows everything, can do it, then who are you to remember? Who are you to continue reminding yourself day after day of where you fail? You, who cannot find her keys, but refuses to forget about whatever you have done.
So anytime that you think about whatever it is that you have done in the past, think about how God has actively decided to forget it. He still remembers, because He’s God, but He has chosen to leave it in the past and forget.
You should too.
