And with that….
Bible Verses about Love
This is a perfect verse to start with, because it shows us why we love God and also an example of perfect love.
We were sinners– we didn’t even love God– and he still sent his son to die for us.
Not only that, but God loves us enough that ha wants to claim us as our own! He want’s us to be the brothers and sisters of Jesus.
This verse show us why we should love other people– and that we should love one another.
I like to use this verse and talk with the kids about ways that they can show love and be love to other people.
Out of all of these verses about love, this is the one that all kids show know. It basically sums up Christianity in one verse.
I like this verse, because it gives us a few descriptors– and these descriptors are ones that we can aim to be too. So we should be merciful, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
I’m not going to lie– as a teacher, being slow to anger is so hard. Kids do some crazy things, y’all. This verse is a good reminder of the characteristics that we should show as we strive to become more and more like God.
I like this verse in particular because it gives the reason for why we do praise and worship– and even a big reason as to why we pray! We worship God because his love is better than anything else.
Sometimes with kids, we forget to tell them why we do things in the church, so I like this little reminder.
I mess up a lot.
Having new mercies every morning is so helpful, because it means we get a fresh start. Things from our past are not going to hinder us from God’s grace.
Another verse to show us WHY we do things in the church.
We give thanks to the Lord because of his steadfast love.
Plus, any verse about gratitude is always good. Maybe I should do one of these lists about gratitude….
This verse is such a good reminder that it’s not about us.
God loves us no matter what. He loved us before we knew whether or not we were going to love him.
Salvation does not come from us– it comes from God.
This is an interesting verse, because it is two fold.
First off– love your neighbor. Be kind, be helpful, be merciful. Give your neighbor grace.
But the other half of it is that yo also have to love yourself. To love your neighbor, you have to love yourself.
As kids, this may not be an issue, but as adults, this is hard. There are so many people walking around hating themselves, and it is just not ok. God says that you have to love yourself– so you should.
Now, as usual, that is not anywhere close to all of the Bible verses about love, but it was a few. Which was your favorite? Let us know in the comments or on Instagram @beccasbibleclass
